What are our three favorite F words?…
No, not that one. Fall Family & Football!! I can’t forget…FOOD!! Most specifically, Game Day Food. I know what your probably thinking. Burgers, pizza, chicken wings, chips & dip. Right?!?! Although these traditional tried and true snacks have worked for some time, my family decided that we needed a little change.
What other foods go with football??
Believe it or not we made a charcuterie board for the big game. IT WAS AWESOME! The kids and adults alike were happy and fed throughout an entire football game. (Those games sometime do last forever!) At first I felt a little silly swaying so far from the norm. If you think about it, everything on that tray is healthy and not over-processed or processed for that matter. I felt like it was a total #momwin that my family was eating healthy during a typical day that we would be eating a lot of crap!
Look How Pretty!
I love the look of a beautiful Charcuterie board you can get so creative with your presentation. You can go as plain or as fancy as you want. Just load up your favorite serving board with anything your heart desires. Now, lets talk about the financial aspect of it. The bigger the board and party the more you need to fill it. If you go to a specialized store for your cheeses and meats you might be paying a little more than if you went to your local grocery store. I try to save the expensive stuff for New Years or a Wine Party. However, were talking football here! half the time we have no idea what were putting in our mouths because were too busy watching the game. You may think this is too “fancy schmany” (as my daughter says) for football. But, it works! I promise!!
Half of the time I already have this stuff in my pantry…
The fun part of making your charcuterie board is getting creative with what to put on it. With kids in the house, I find that they will eat crackers out of the box or eat most of the grapes and only leave a few in the box or bag. This makes it easy to finish the box or bag off when I throw a quick charcuterie board together. In other words, getting rid of the leftovers. lol. My girls actually enjoy assembling it too. Sometimes we have hidden faces or pictures designed with fruit or nuts. With all kidding aside you need to head to your local grocery store pick up a couple cheeses and meats and get creative with your next Game Day Snack!
