New Year New You – Guide to More Hydration
Now that you have bravely dove in to our New Year New You Wellness series, I applaud you for wanting to better yourself and those around you. It always seems to be this crazy ongoing journey to wellness when there is so much Ok, lets talk water! I mean, it’s a New Year New Me right? I should be loving these healthy changes, I should be embracing it with open arms. NOT! Water has become my nemesis, it is my kryptonite. I know that water will make a huge difference in the way I feel, my skin, hair, blah blah blah. So, why do I seem to be fighting it? I think it all comes down to a new routine, as with all things our body needs to get used to something new. Once we are used to it, it’s second nature.
That is exactly how my first couple weeks started in my quest to drinking more water. Not just more water, but the water that my body needed to function at its highest and best level.
How Much Water Does My Body Need?
If you google “daily water intake” you get a slew of information. It’s almost overwhelming, there are charts and graphs and studies everywhere. With all this being said, I did enjoy reading healthline.com article on Water intake:
The human body is made up of an average 60% + water. It’s important for all our organs to be well hydrated to work properly. The daily recommendation is still eight 8oz. glasses roughly. More or less depending on other factors including sex, age, activity level etc.
I’m finally Drinking the Water!!!
Now comes the fun part! Your gonna laugh, but I found myself drinking more water when I had a cute bottle to drink out of. Originally trying to count my boring water glasses at home became tedious and boring, I often loose track of how many I consumed. Enter Mami Wata Water Bottles. Not only is my bottle pretty, durable, large in size, easy to clean, and easy to carry, but my water tastes better in it! Just kidding on that last part. Really though, this bottle has helped tremendously in my quest to drinking more water a day. This gorgeous bottle holds 22oz of water. I drink 2 before noon and 2 in the afternoon/evening. If you think about it, with it being spread out through the day it’s not that bad.
For those who like more of a taste to their water Mami Wata also makes a gorgeous bottle that you can add fruit infusions to. This bottle comes with a recipe e-book with tons of amazing fruit combinations to try. Talk about perfection!
Let’s get Started…
Who else is excited to start feeling the positive benefits of drinking the water our bodies so desperately need. We might even loose weight along the way #Yasssss.

I feel like I never drink enough water. But adding essential oils into my water has helped me like it better. Thanks for the article!
I feel exactly the same way! I never thought to add essential oils, I’m definitely gonna try that!
You are so right! Having the right equipment really helps with wanting to drink more water!!! I personally love several quart-sized glasses I have at home, because I drink more with them than with smaller ones! 🙂
Right?!?! Glad someone gets me!
i used to drink nothing but water for years…and it really didn’ seem to help my complexion or much else other than bathroom trips, so i slacked off. but hydration is so important either way
Yes, I agree! It’s so hard!!!
Totally agree! It’s like I always tell people, you just can’t pour from an empty cup.
Right?!?! Such a good reminder!
How fun! I too love drinking out of fun bottles. Otherwise it is just drink from a cup when I’m super thirsty! I find that I do best drinking water when there is a little flavor and sweetness to it, like a splash of cherry juice, or vanilla and stevia. What other things have you found to be successful?
Ohhhhh, I never thought about cherry juice or vanilla. I’m gonna have to try that. My favorite is the crystal light lemonade packets!!
It is so hot here that you can’t not drink water all the time!
oh wow!! It’s complete opposite here, soooo cold!
I love to drink water but this cold climate is not making me do so. I don’t feel like drinking it. But let me do it hereafter,
Yes, I feel like that too. I find that I drink less in the winter than summer.
It really is much easier to drink more water when you have a super cute bottle lol!
Hahaha…YES! I totally agree!
This is definitely on top of my list. I believe on its health benefits but unfortunately I have been neglecting it. Thank you for the reminder to hydrate hydrate hydrate
Oh girl, It’s hard. Im still struggling with it. We are all a work in progress right.
Girl! I am proud of you!!! Its so odd how staying hydrated can be difficult to many of us! Me included! I am trying to drink 3 glasses of water between coffee!
Thanks luv! I need to try that 3 glasses trick between coffee too?
Man, I was SOOOOOO good about drinking water for over 5 years! I started when I got pregnant with my oldest and didn’t stop until well after my youngest weaned off of nursing. I ALWAYS had a filtered water bottle in my hand and I drank at least a gallon of water a day. I fell out of this practice and I’m more sluggish and I don’t feel as well. Time to find those water bottles again and get back into drinking more water!
Right?!?! I was the same. Its amazing that we can fall out of such a great routine…it happens though!
I don’t naturally love water either. I do love flavored water. And, that water bottle is so cute. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely sweet friend! We are all a work in progress, right?!?!
