ABQ Bowling at Skidmore’s for the family #win
Do you remember going bowling as a kid? I do. I remember walking into these old buildings with dark interiors and fluorescent lights everywhere. Sound like something you experienced as well?
Boy… do I have a treat for you!
My family recently visited Skidmore’s Holiday Bowl in Albuquerque NM for one of the BEST family outings that we have been on in a long time. This place is amazing! As you walk up, you see this gorgeous building with such an inviting outdoor patio. Let me tell you, It was hard for hubby to go in. He was ready to sit at the full bar enjoying the outdoor weather, drinking a cold one.
Thankfully we got him inside. lol.
We walked into this inviting lobby that showcased everything that Skidmore’s has to offer! Remember when I talked about the old and dark bowing alleys of my past? Well, this one is gorgeous! We’re talking light and bright with great top 50 music (my girls were dancing in the isles) playing in the background! Each lane had our own accompanying comfy couch and touch screen tablet. We had an electronic scoreboard overhead, and a HUGE big screen tv at the end of each lane showing the latest in sporting events.
YES!! We have arrived.
Let the FUN begin.
After putting our “gorgeous” shoes on. We were ready! My husband and I had so much fun teaching our 5 year old to bowl… you know, when they push the ball from between their legs. It was the cutest thing. And my twins, well lets just say judging from the photos they are ready to start bowling professionally.
Things did get a little competitive I must say.
The food was… as my daughter put it “Awesome!” It was a huge hit with my very picky little eaters. I was quite surprised when the food came out (remember the old and dark bowling alleys) I expected typical bar food, burgers, hot dogs, nachos etc. What we had was soooo much better.
All the foods had a gourmet twist to them. The adult pizza (I call it) was topped with BBQ meat and had such a wonderful bite to it. The BBQ potato skins were phenomenal, I had to beg my hubby not to eat all of them. To top it all off the desserts were delicious, let’s just say that the twins polished off the brownie sundae before mom and dad got a bite! Everything was served HOT by the sweetest waitress all the while we were razing each other on our bowling scores.
But, that’s not all.
I’m gonna tell you two words. T H E A R C A D E!!! Yup, it was so much fun! This is coming straight from a mama’s mouth. I typically don’t partake in arcade games, I always end up giving my tokens to the kids to keep them going. Not this Time! Seriously, these were the coolest top of the line arcade games. My absolute favorite was a virtual ride game that moves as though you are actually in the game. The kids had fun with the ever so popular skee ball and snow boarding.
I know I have said it before, but this place is so clean and beautiful. You can tell that everything is so well taken care of. My family is so happy to have had the opportunity to visit the amazing place that is Skidmore’s Holiday Bowl. This is definitely our new family night out spot. If you are in the Albuquerque area or are passing through, you will definitely want to stop by and have some fun at Skidmore’s Holiday Bowl.
We can’t wait to go back.
